International Initiatives
Inspired by the depth and breadth of service activities being conducted in India, SMVA volunteers around the world have initiated a variety of humanitarian projects. These programs enable vulnerable communities to emerge from poverty and meet their economic, social, and environmental challenges.
Uganda, Africa In September 2017 SMVA Trust visited rural areas of West Uganda to assess the needs of vulnerable sectors and to begin providing support. While partnering with the Luhwawa Youth Development Foundation (LUYODEFO) SMVA Trust visited the Kajwang and Nyabarongo parishes in the Kisinga sub-county of the Kasese District, in Western Uganda. This area is part of a larger community in the Kasese District where people are experiencing several hardships including dire poverty, epidemic HIV and AIDS, prolonged political insurgence, ethical and tribal conflict, and natural calamities, such as floods and droughts.
